Fun Facts
I am a nerd for all things pop culture. I love to read and can easily lose an entire afternoon browsing Book People’s shelves. I also enjoy going to movies and seeing live music with my friends. When I’m at home, I like to bake (especially desserts of the chocolate variety) and spend time with my family and our three dogs.
About Me
I moved to Austin with my family during my freshman year of high school. This May, I will graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with degrees in English and history. In the fall, I will start work to earn my teaching certification in English and social studies for grades 8-12.
During the spring semester of my sophomore year at UT I worked as a mentor for the River City Youth Foundation. This included participating in an after-school austin">tutoring program to help students with homework and to better prepare for standardized tests. With my major in English, I’ve also become my friends’ favorite proofreader.
In my opinion, good readers make good writers. By improving one’s skills in reading and critical thinking, a student is better able to recognize the strengths and weaknesses within his or her own writing. Reading will also be essential to developing strong arguments as well as broadening a student’s vocabulary. I am also a strong-believer (and participant) in the peer-review, proofreading, and draft process when it comes to writing. Strengthening these skills in reading and writing will lead to success in all aspects of a student’s academic career. As a Frog austin">Tutor, I hope to be able to work with students to increase their understanding of particular subjects and assignments, while also passing on valuable study, organizational, and time-management skills.
