I received my Master's degree in English from the University of New Orleans in 2002 (in addition to an MA in Political Science). I taught at UNO and Tulane University for a few years before moving to Maryland. I have been teaching at Stevenson University and Harford Community College since 2007; my courses include English 101, English 102, English 109- Research Writing, and English 209- Technical Writing. My favorite academic interests are Composition and American Literature. I live in maryland/baltimore">Baltimore with my wife, our new baby girl, and a cat.
In my years as a graduate student I had many opportunities to maryland/maryland/baltimore">baltimore">tutor at various university writing and maryland/maryland/baltimore">baltimore">tutoring centers. Since moving to Maryland in 2005, I have been maryland/maryland/baltimore">baltimore">tutoring individually with great success in a variety of subjects and levels. Many of my students have gone on to have successful college experiences.
I firmly believe that a devoted maryland/maryland/baltimore">baltimore">tutor can be instrumental in helping any student reach a higher level of academic achievement. My work is always rooted in the student's own assignments, but I also hope to bring a major change in perspective (and possibly work ethic) by emphasizing both the necessity of academic rigor and the consequences of success or failure. Establishing a schedule, finding a devoted work space, and getting seriously organized are usually key to improving academic experiences, yet these strategies are always augmented by specifically focused instructions and advice catered to help each student build on strengths and eliminate weaknesses.
