Fun Facts
I grew up in Chicago. My childhood is filled of backyard baseball games with my brothers and reading with my sister. In high school, I joined the debate team and student newspaper. When I moved to Berkeley, I discovered my love for the outdoors. I’ve hiked all around the Berkeley Hills, biked up-and-down the shore of Lake Anza, and windsurfed on the Bay. Currently, I divide my free time between Taekwondo and Rock Climbing. My favorite leisure activities are listening to music and playing guitar
About Me
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Math from UC Berkeley and will be going to graduate school this fall. I hope to become a mathematician, a professor and researcher. But my end game lies in education reform. I will be on the side that tries everything they can to reform mathematics curriculum. I enjoy working on a team with a common goal, and that’s how I see tutoring. I am incredibly patient and detail-oriented. My favorite moments as an educator are the “Aha!” moments, when students make their own discoveries, filled with the simple joy of creativity.
Experience
In high school I was the Editor-in-Chief of our student newspaper. I implemented my own Journalism curriculum. I led weekly design workshops and one-on-one tutoring sessions with our twenty student staff. At UC Berkeley, I am a member of the Martial Arts Program. I was a Teacher Assistant for the taekwondo PE classes, and now I'm a Youth Instructor year round. Frog Tutoring is my opportunity to share my passion for mathematics. Peer-to-peer tutoring has been essential to all my math courses.
Approach
“I hate math!” is a motto I hope to extinguish. I believe everyone can find an aspect of mathematics they genuinely enjoy. It is important that educators are prepared to show us. I teach math from as many perspectives as possible: geometrically, numerically, through applications, by logic, games and puzzles. I hope to be a guide. I plan to ask questions, give hints, and provide many fun examples. I let the student explore. The more I learn about his or her interests the more fun we’ll have.
