Fun Facts
I love all types of dance! I began ballet when I was 4 and have continued with it since. I have also participated in jazz, contemporary, modern, and even a little flamenco dance. I really enjoy creative writing, too. I like making up stories about things I've done or wish I could do. Someday I hope to write a book! I also have a passion for travel. I love getting to know the cultures and people of far away places— learning their customs, eating their foods, and speaking their languages.
About Me
I am a first year Regents and Chancellor's Scholar at UC Berkeley, majoring in Peace and Conflict Studies and considering a minor in Creative Writing. I am also involved in the United Nations Association club on campus. After graduation I hope to travel and learn languages, attend graduate school, and someday work in International Relations with the UN or in journalism.
Experience
In high school I participated in several organizations that allowed me to tutor and mentor younger students. With a program called OASIS (Organized Academic Support in School) I spent an hour each school day mentoring three freshman students for one year. Through the Cesar Chavez Club, I tutored elementary school students in first and second grades once a week for three years. At the ballet school where I trained and grew up, I acted as a Teacher's Assistant in a ballet class once a week.
Approach
Throughout my education I have been both disappointed and utterly inspired by my classes as a result of the instructors who taught me. The ones who stand out as defining my education positively are those with an enthusiasm for the material they taught and an eagerness to pass this along to others. As a tutor now, I strive to bring this same excitement to the students I teach. It is my responsibility to bring each subject to life and inspire a passion for learning that will stay with my students.

Peace and Conflict Studies
Spanish I Tutoring
I have taken Spanish in high school through AP Spanish Language, and received A's all semesters. Additionally I got an A in Spanish 4 (Advanced) last semester at UC Berkeley, and am currently enrolled in Spanish Literature. I have had the opportunity to tutor many friends in this subject as they took introductory and intermediate courses.

Additionally I got an A in Spanish 4 (Advanced) last semester at UC Berkeley, and am currently enrolled in Spanish Literature. I have had the opportunity to tutor many friends in this subject as they took introductory and intermediate courses.

I have taken math through Calculus, including Algebra I, and have received A's in all of these classes. Previously, I have tutored Algebra I. I enjoy this subject so I very much like teaching it to students and making these difficult concepts more understandable.

In high school I took English all four years including AP English Language and Literature, and received A's in each class. Currently I am taking a literature course and a writing course at UC Berkeley. I love English classes and am even considering a minor in Creative Writing. I have spent quite a bit of time outside of the classroom dedicated to this subject and would enjoy bringing this passion to students.

In high school I took AP World History, AP US History, and AP Art History, and received A's in each of these classes. Currently I am taking a History of the Middle East class at UC Berkeley. This experience has provided me with a strong foundation in history.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I maintained all A's throughout high school and into college, and a big part of this success was my diligence in homework. For one year I mentored / tutored three freshman students to improve their academic performance. One of the things I focused on was motivating these students to put effort into and complete their homework each day. As a result, after our year together their performance had improved.

Over our year together, some of the things I focused on were organization and consistent study habits. By the end of the year, their performance had improved.

As an elementary school tutor, I spent three years in high school teaching various subjects to young students. This included social studies, in which I helped students organize historical events chronologically and understand how they related to each other. I am very passionate about this subject and am currently taking many classes in the "social studies" field, including history, reading, and writing courses at UC Berkeley.
