Fun Facts
I love traveling and have lived in different parts of the world in the U.S. and Asia. I always find an opportunity to go to a place I've never been to and expand my understanding of different cultures and peoples. Since finding balance is important to me, I like to stay refreshed by running, doing yoga, hiking, and kayaking. Also, my newfound hobby is learning to play ukulele!
About Me
I'm currently pursuing an MA-PhD in English language and rhetoric at the washington">University of Washington, washington/seattle">Seattle. I want to teach writing and composition at the college level and make a difference in education policies as my long-term career. My interests include composition pedagogy, translingualism and working with students of multilingual backgrounds, writing center studies, community literacy, ESL teaching and writing, and language policy issues.
Experience
During college, I worked as a writing and speaking washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutor at the Agnes Scott Center for Writing and Speaking. My several years of washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutoring and teaching experience have informed that teaching and devoting my life for education is the most meaningful and passionate thing I can do. I really enjoyed working with students from all class years, different majors and with any experience levels for all kinds of work from writing a resume to preparing for a job interview.
Approach
My washington/washington/seattle">seattle">tutoring and teaching approach is continually informed by my breadth of experience in working with students of different backgrounds. I believe that the key to learning is to be student-centered and help the student inspired and authentic about their work. Based on where the student is in terms of their strengths and areas to improve on, I help the student build on their knowledge at their own pace through positive encouragement and clear, constructive feedback.

PhdArts Tutoring
I learned Art History in college, and it turns out to be one of my favorite subjects. I have tutored students for different art history papers and helped them with how to read the visual composition of different art works and improving their description and interpretation of the art works.
Business Tutoring
I attended a mini-MBA course for liberal arts students designed by Agnes Scott College and Georgia Tech. We learned about important business subjects and interdisciplinary knowledge for being an entrepreneur. I would love to help any student with learning more about business subjects.
English Tutoring
English was one of my favorite subjects in college in which I felt I got the most out of intellectually and emotionally. I had great experiences and made the best grades in taking writing and literature classes.
Environmental Science Tutoring
I took an environmental sustainability class during my junior year of college and learned a lot about interdisciplinary matters such as environment, economics and equity.
History Tutoring
I took a couple of history courses during college and still learn about history in different ways through reading or watching documentaries. It would be my pleasure to help students learn about history from the lens of critical thinking.
Political Science Tutoring
Since I'm personally interested in politics and international relations, I always enjoy reading about political science theories and compare/contrast analyses of different countries' political situations.
Writing Tutoring
I tutored all different kinds of college writing for four years and really enjoyed the process. I also worked as a teaching assistant for first-year composition courses.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I volunteered as a mentor for elementary students from low-income families to help them with their reading literacy.

I volunteered as a mentor for elementary students from low-income families to help them with their reading literacy.

I took GRE for my graduate school applications and can help the student familiarize with the process I went through, and share productive study strategies.

I studied both TOEFL and IELTS to go to college in the U.S. and can help any student who are preparing for these exams.
SAT Math Tutoring
From my experience of studying for SAT, I can share helpful strategies for Math and help students practice math questions.
SAT Verbal/Writing Tutoring
I scored high in SAT verbal and writing and would love to help students do the same as well.
TOEFL Tutoring
