Fun Facts

Hello! One of my passions is to help others learn what they have trouble learning without frustration.

About Me

I have a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Dallas. I have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam!

I have had intensive coursework since community college, especially many math related subjects: (Calculus, Physics, etc) courses in my undergraduate level.

I am able to dallas">tutor in Math related subjects: math-elementary/texas/dallas">Elementary math, pre-algebra, geometry, algebra 1&2, pre-calculus, trigonometry, calculus 1 and calculus 2, SAT Math, math/texas/dallas">ACT Math, and STARR Math.

Experience

I started dallas">tutoring back when I was in college. There were many students I have come across in class and outside of school who would ask me for help because they didn't understand a certain concept or they just did not understand how to do the homework. Sometimes I would get students who procrastinate up to the day before a test, and ask me for help.

Approach

Every student has a different learning ability. It's key for any dallas">tutor to find where a student's strengths and weaknesses are. When the student is stuck with a certain concept, I go back further and further to see how far back the student is lost. Then, I will use a step by step approach to help the student understand how to solve problems. I blame schools for not effectively teaching with the correct approaches since I even see students use iPads to do homework! I prefer pen and paper.

Calculus I Tutoring

I have taken this course at Collin College and have achieved an A. The subjects that I have learned during undergrad were:

-Limits, Inverse functions, Graph (with/without) Calculators
-Limits and Continuity + L'Hopital's Rule
-Derivatives using Product, Quotient, Chain, Implicit Differentiation, Concavity, Extrema, Absolute min/max
-Related rates, Optimization
-Mean Value Theorem
-Integration

Calculus 2 Tutoring

I have taken this course at Collin College and made an A. I have also taken additional coursework at University level that emphasizes concepts in Calculus 2. The concepts I can tutor are:

-Fundamental Theorem of Calculus
-Indefinite and Definite Integrals
-Volumes and Surface Area Integration
-Moments and Center of Mass
-Work & Fluids
-Exponential Growth and Decay
-Integration by parts, Trig Substitution, Improper Integrals, partial fraction decomposition
-Sequences and series
-Dot, cross, 3D coordinate systems, vectors, and partial derivatives.

College Algebra Tutoring

I have taken the CLEP exam for this subject when I was in Collin College and nearly achieved a perfect score. I am very strong in College Algebra and will be able to help tutor in this subject.

Math Tutoring

The following, not inclusive, are possible subjects that I am very comfortable tutoring at college level.

Pre-Algebra
College Algebra
Trigonometry
Calculus 1 and 2

I have taken Physics 1 and 2, University Physics, Statistics, and Differential Equations as well, and scored all As on these subjects.

Pre Calculus Tutoring

I have taken this course as Honors in High School, and was mandatory knowledge for calculus and my mechanical engineering coursework. I have helped students understand basic trig functions, graphing, shifts, inverse functions, angles in degrees and radians, vectors, and polar coordinates.

I can help students understand concepts by using the graphing calculator and by step by step approach.

Study Skills Tutoring

In college, I have learned how to effectively use my time to prioritize subject matter importance when I was bogged down with several important things at once. There was so much freedom that time can be easily mismanaged.

Take good notes, studying important topics relevant to tests, better retention, nutrition, and sufficient sleep are all important to study better and achieve better grades.

Trigonometry Tutoring

In trigonometry, this is a part of a Pre-Calculus portion that was taught in my curriculum. The topics that were discussed were:

Angles, trig identities, elevation and depression, word problems related to measurements, area, volume, surface area, and solving trig equations.

Algebra Tutoring

In high school, I have taken Honors Algebra 1, and had exemplary progress both in high school and college. I have also taken the CLEP exam for College Algebra and nearly made a perfect score.

Algebra II Tutoring

In high school, I have taken Honors Algebra 2.. I have also taken the CLEP exam for College Algebra and nearly made a perfect score. The CLEP exam is a timed exam which had all concepts of both Algebra 1 and 2, as well as college algebra coursework tested.

Calculus Tutoring

I have taken AP Calculus AB in 11th grade. I aced nearly every test, and scored a 3/5 on the AP exam. I have also had retaken Calculus in the college level as well.

Calculus AP Tutoring

I have studied Calculus 1, 2, and 3 in community college, and have tutored students in concepts that were covered in both Calculus AB and BC courses. I am comfortable in tutoring students who are stuck in either calculus courses.

Geometry Tutoring

I have taken this course in 9th grade as an honors class. The knowledge was eventually used up at pre-calculus level, as well as calculus courses and beyond.

Homework Coach Tutoring

In my years of tutoring, I have had experience helping students understand how to do their homework. I have also made practice problems that were similar to what they have to solve at their caliber. The more the student practices, the better they will be with their fundamentals.

Math Advance Tutoring

I have participated in Math Competitions such as Olympiad, which focuses on tough Number Sense, Word Problems, and mathematics that require competitors to think outside the box. The tests were timed, and some test questions require intense calculations.

Music Theory Tutoring

I have taken Honors Orchestra when I was in high school, and had dealt with much Music Theory during the course. I was a violinist who excelled in both performance and competitions.

In class I have done much book work with key signatures, notes, ear training, basics note reading for all key signatures, beats, rhythm, melody, and harmonics. Additionally, we were required to study some music theory as well.

Pre Algebra Tutoring

Pre-Algebra is the core fundamental before algebra. I have helped many students excel in basic math, and taught them the fundamentals of order of operations in problem solving. In Pre-Algebra, it's all about the basics before moving up to algebra.

SAT Math Tutoring

I have scored over a 700 in this subject, and was able to tutor many students in this subject in the past. We focus on a problem to problem basis, with step by step approach to solve problems.

Science Tutoring

I was required to take Biology, Chemistry, and Physics in my high school years, which were also retaken in my college years. I was a Nursing/Biochem Major, but switched to a degree in engineering.

Middle School Math Tutoring

In middle school, I have taken all honors mathematics courses and made As. I took Honors Algebra 1 back in 8th grade, and excelled due to my strong number sense background. I have tutored many students in this subject and boost their confidence with basic concepts and problem solving.

ACT Math Tutoring

I have taken the ACT Math portion, and scored a 29 back in junior high. Progressively, the math was much more difficult at college level, and I have been tutoring students who needed my help with SAT and ACT math.

Elementary Math Tutoring

I have also helped kids with math as well. I have helped them with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and have the students practice problems over and over again until they have fully understood how to solve problems. Practice! Practice! Practice!
