Fun Facts

In addition to reading, writing, and linguistics, camping is a huge passion of mine. I am so excited to be in back in Texas, where I have found so many opportunities for wonderful camping experiences! So far, I have been to Big Bend and many places around Austin. I also love traveling in general. I'll be visiting South America for the first time this summer, spending some time in Quito, Ecuador.

About Me

I will start my graduate studies for a PhD in French Literature this fall at UT Austin. I am incredibly excited about going back to school! I graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland, OR, two years ago with a double major in French and English Literature. Since graduating college, I have spent a year working at a French immersion school in Portland, and am currently a French teacher at a Montessori school in Houston.

Experience

Having tutored all four years of college, I am very familiar with the process. I tutored all class levels, so I am trained to know how to best help students learn the basics of the French language, as well as conversation, writing, and advanced literary analysis. I have spent the past eight months planning my own French classes and teaching French to first through sixth graders. It has been a huge pleasure and a wonderful learning experience.

Approach

Having worked with all kinds of students (from working in an immersion school with two year olds, to houston">tutoring college level students and teaching my own French classes in elementary school), I always get to know my students before deciding what the best approach will be. Some things remain the same with all students, however. I always keep a positive attitude and make sure my students do as well. I provide helpful advice and activities, and encourage the students to practice outside of class.
