About Me
I am entering my sophomore year at maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-university">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia University. I am majoring in Creative Writing, and also on the premedical track. When I graduate, I hope to go into Teach for America for two years. Then, I'll go on to medical school.
I have been tutoring for as long as I've been old enough to tutor. In 7th grade I tutored at KIPP, a charter middle school. For my senior year in high school, the last six weeks were spent doing any job of your choice for 6 weeks. I chose to be a full time student teacher intern in a 4th grade classroom. My freshman year of college, I tutored spanish speaking students in english writing at the local school. Needless to say, my life doesn't feel complete without tutoring! Frog Tutoring is the perfect way to make a large impact, with a technique that resonates well with my tutoring style.
When I tutor, I first like to speak with the student to evaluate what they feel their strengths and weaknesses are. During this time, I also evaluate what I see their strengths and weaknesses to be. Once the student and I are on the same page, we'll move on to work on their weaknesses and build upon their strengths. I think it's important to be a guide to the student. This entails allowing the student to think the problems on their own, find their own answers, and even tell me how to solve problems. My job is make sure they're heading in the right direction, clear on all concepts, and enjoying what they're doing. It is also important for students to develop good study habits and methods. With those skills under their belt, they're able to thrive even when I am not present. Most of all, learning should be fun!
