Fun Facts
I was in marching band for eight years both in high school and in the UCLA Bruin Marching Band. I love music and travel and I once had the opportunity to perform on french horn in six countries with a band from southern California!
About Me
I am a fifth year biochemistry major at UCLA. I am also a first year in the graduate school of education through the STEP program that combines the final year of undergrad with the first year of grad school for science majors planning to pursue a career in k-12 education. I plan to be a high school chemistry teacher after this year.
Experience
I was in the International Baccalaureate program at my high school where I scored 5 or higher on every exam. I tutored my peers in high school especially in the subjects of chemistry and math. In college I participated in the calteach program that gives college students experience in k-12 classrooms and have thus observed classrooms from elementary to high school. I spent a week working in a middle school through the Noyce program and start field work for the TEP Program this week.
Approach
I believe that understanding concepts leads to a higher understanding of the material more than memorizing terms or definitions. I work to ensure the students are following the concepts and are able to explain things in their own words. Sometimes shifting the lens can bring a new understanding to a previously confusing topic.

I scored a B in Organic Chemistry 1 and 3 (30A and C) and an A in Organic Chemistry 2 (30B). I scored A- or higher on every class in the biochemistry series and thus feel I have a very strong grasp on the subject. I am very passionate about my major and thus about organic chemistry.
