Fun Facts

When I was a very young girl my younger brother and I took the same test to determine what level of math the school should place us in. My test score was much lower than my brother's. I was jealous, and to show off my non-mathematical skills wrote a full novel entitled, "Victory the Horse." Not my best work, but it showed my love of writing at a young age. Today my hobbies include writing poems and short stories, and reading.

About Me

I am a senior at UC Berkeley, graduating this Summer! After gradation, I plan on trying to find a job writing for a magazine or newspaper. My ultimate dream is to one day publish a novel! Hopefully that is what the long term future holds for me. As far as the short term goes, I plan to use my skills to help others as a tutor, and do some self-learning by reading all those books I never got around to reading in school, and getting a head start on that novel!

In the past, I have tutored elementary school children as a part-time nanny. At that age, just getting them to sit still is difficult, but when they start to understand and enjoy their work because of your help, you feel amazing! In college, I was the signatory of a creative writing group in which I had to provide feed-back on all written materials for our annually published anthology. Through countless peer-review sessions, I was able to help my fellow students and learn from these students in the process.

I have a passion for the written word, and I think others should be passionate about reading and writing as well! Because of this, I believe strongly in learning about each individual student. Hobbies? Favorite subject? High school drama? It is all interesting to me because all of these elements are inspirations one can use in an essay, or creative writing project. Of course, I also always try to be a constant source of encouragement to my students. I was once one of them, and I understand how discouraging the learning process can be.
