Fun Facts

Outside of teaching I often participate in various sports and outdoor activities. If i am not outside or playing sports, I can be found reading and playing arts and crafts with my nephew who will soon be attending pre-school.

About Me

I have recently completed my Master's in Secondary Education and currently teach English Language Arts in a high school setting. I have previously worked in a middle school where I tutored a a variety of children. I completed my undergraduate degree at Uconn where I was lucky enough to study abroad in Italy for 6 weeks. As a teacher I believe in having fun while learning the important concepts needed to become life long learners.

Experience

As a teacher I am well versed in the subject of Language Arts. Prior to my position as a teacher, I worked as a connecticut/connecticut/hartford">hartford">tutor, mentor and coach for children ranging from the ages of 3-18. In college, I became a connecticut/connecticut/hartford">hartford">tutor for collegiate students helping them with study skills as well as advancing their knowledge in various English classes. Outside of my position as a high school teacher I work with elementary and middle school students on study habits, organization, writing skills as well as reading.

Approach

It is my belief that students learn best when they understand why they need to learn and know the information presented to them. I believe it is important that the student take ownership in their own learning, and that begins with the understanding the "why". I always incorporate real life situations into my teaching philosophy which makes the material more relatable to the students. I believe in having fun while learning and providing the students with a meaningful lesson.
