Fun Facts
.My wife, Peg and I have recently moved from NH and GA to Colorado and we love it here. Not too much snow in the winter, dry climate, so no “mud season”, consequently very few biting bugs. Also some of the best fly fishing in the country. I love to garden and in spite of the alkaline soil, our production was very good in the first year. When I am not denver">tutoring, gardening, golfing or fishing, Peg has me busy with projects around the house.
About Me
.I was born and raised on Long Island, NY. After graduating from high school, I attended and graduated in 1967 from Colby College in Maine. My wife, Peg, and I lived in Wolfeboro, NH for most of our lives where I taught Chemistry at Brewster Academy until I retired in 2009. We moved to Colorado, after a short period in Georgia, to be closer to our children and grandchildren who were putting down roots, Kate with grand daughter Avery in Denver and Mark with grandson Otto in San Diego.
Experience
.Retiring after 25 years at Brewster Academy, I then began denver">tutoring science, primarily chemistry at the high school and college level. I will be starting my 9th year of this activity in August 2020 (three years at the College of Coastal Georgia and six years at the Community College of Denver). During the summer I denver">tutor at “Math Boot Camp”, a program of supplemental math instruction for students of all ages up to high school
Approach
I provide several study guides, step by step problem solving information sheets and real life examples that take the mystery out of challenging chemical concepts. My approach is always positive and supportive and I strive to make students feel comfortable and acknowledged. I feel that I am good at determining where students are in their understanding and pick up from there..
