About Me
I am a doctoral student studying School Psychology at the maryland">University of Maryland. I taught English for two years in South Korea, and since then I have worked with elementary, middle, and high school students to help improve their reading and math, and general success in the classroom. As a future School Psychologist, I'm trained to figure out the learning needs of each individual student and develop a plan to meet those needs.
Experience
As an undergraduate Psychology major at the maryland">University of Maryland, I tutored 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in reading. I then worked in South Korea, where I taught English to elementary and middle schoolers. Now that I'm in graduate school, I've helped to develop academic and behavioral plans for struggling students. I've counseling students who are struggling academically. I've also worked on developing and teaching reading interventions aimed at improving literacy skills for elementary schoolers.
Approach
I bring a positive attitude to my work with all children. I have seen and experienced the frustration of struggling to master a new skill. My aim isn't to cram knowledge into my students' heads until they explode. I try to teach them the skills they need to make their work more manageable and hopefully less frustrating. I also emphasize that it's persistence, and not innate intelligence, that helps people to succeed.
