One passion people quickly learn about me is that I love traveling. I was born in Colombia, but have had the opportunity to live everywhere in the Americas. I also speak fluent Spanish, have professional working proficiency in French, and just finished my first elementary Portuguese course!
About Me
I am a senior Economics (GPA: 3.61) and International Studies (GPA: 3.75) double major with minors in Business Law and Management at the miami">University of Miami. I have been on the President’s, Provost's, and Dean's list various times throughout my collegiate career. When I graduate, I hope to pursue a career in medical technology.
Experience
As an International baccalaureate candidate, I was given the opportunity to miami">tutor children from ages 6-18 in all subject areas at a cancer foundation named 'Funstall' in Bogotá, Colombia. This opportunity sparked my passion for teaching. Since then, I have tutored numerous college students in various subjects, and continued to pursue my passion by miami">tutoring people of all ages.
Approach
My miami">tutoring approach varies with each unique student. Each case is different, but in general, I try to inspire every single person to be the best version of themselves. I often tell students one of my favorite quotes "Success can never identify who you are. You must always identify it. You cannot allow the failures to identify who you are." - GP. I seek to understand why a particular student is struggling, what motivates them, and ultimately what allows them to excel.

Economics & International Studies
International Studies Tutoring
I am currently completing my degree in International Studies and have been nominated for departmental honors by faculty. I have taken eight classes for the International Studies major ranging from the 100-500 level. I have achieved an overall major G.P.A of 3.75. I also have experience tutoring bounteous of my collegiate peers in the subject matter. Additionally, I have helped my peers excel by guiding them to better policy papers through my writing expertise, ample INS vocabulary, and my dynamic knowledge regarding worldly events.
Macro Economics Tutoring
I major in Economics and have an overall major G.P.A of 3.61. I have taken both introduction to macroeconomics and macro-economic theory courses. Additionally, I am currently completing 400 & 500 level macroeconomic courses for my final semester at the University of Miami. Moreover, I have experience doing semester long projects, leading groups, and tutoring my peers in macroeconomics.
Micro-Economics Tutoring
I major in Economics and have an overall major G.P.A of 3.61. Microeconomics is my forte. This is evident in the grades I that have attained: an A for my introduction to micro-economics course, A- in microeconomic theory, and an A+ for my labor economics course which required microeconomics as a prerequisite.
Sociology Tutoring
I was part of the University of Miami’s sociology and criminology executive board for a year. I have taken an introductory 101 course, and a 201 course regarding social research methods (in which I got an A). Furthermore I have experience writing literature reviews, citing in ASA format, and interpreting statistics relating to social research (e.g. factor loading, standard deviation, etc.).
Study Skills Tutoring
I believe I am qualified to teach people about study skills because I have received a 4.0 G.P.A and a 3.95 G.P.A during my last two semesters at the University of Miami. Additionally, I have been class leader for the Army ROTC program, received multiple academic honors such departmental honors for INS, high G.P.A award, and Presidents list, and have held multiple internships throughout my collegiate career. I am able to do all of this because of the bounteous self-help and time management books that I have read. These include The 7 habits of highly effective people, getting things done, amongst others). I am capable of teaching my work habits to other students by pinpointing where their study skills need the most help and inspiring them to develop better habits by leading by example.
Biology Tutoring
I have a natural passion for Biology. I have been shadowing doctors ever since I was 14 years old. To further my passion for biology, I was nominated by faculty to take Biology at the Higher Level (HL) (British equivalent of AP Biology) during high school. I continued to pursue my passion by taking two Biology courses while at the University of Miami. My background in Biology allows me to tutor any facet of Biology to students. I have experience teaching elementary-high school level biology, and am currently teaching 8th grade biology to students with the American curriculum in Miami.
Geography Tutoring
During high school, I was awarded departmental honors for Geography at the Higher Level (HL) (British equivalent of AP geography). I graduated as the top student in the program and was publicly recognized for these efforts at graduation. I am able to effectively teach various geographic themes (exempli gratia human and physical geography).
Spanish Tutoring
I am originally from Bogotá, Colombia and am a native Spanish speaker. I have taken Spanish courses since elementary school. In high school, I graduated with a International Baccalaureate (British equivalent of AP classes) in which I completed two years worth of Spanish grammar and literature courses for native speakers. Additionally, I scored amongst the top 10 percentile for my country’s college admission test. Furthermore, I am experienced with languages. I know Spanish, English, French, and am currently learning Portuguese at the University of Miami. This background has allowed me to effectively tutor many of my peers.

I am confident in tutoring any economics course that I have taken. In brief, I attained an A for my introduction to micro-economics course, an A- in microeconomic theory, an A in Global Economics, and an A+ for my labor economics course which required microeconomics as a prerequisite (I also received the highest grade in the class for the final exam). I have also attained high grades when it comes to macroeconomics.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I have completed over three English courses while at the University of Miami (with an A in English Composition II and an A- in English Literature). Additionally, I have completed over 11 writing credits in my collegiate career. Lastly, I am a Business Law minor. The minor is renowned for its vast reading comprehension component which is necessary in order to successfully understand the litigation and the case studies.

Homework Coach Tutoring
My experience as a homework coach started in Colombia when I tutored children with cancer do their homework. Ever since then I have helped bounteous people better allocate their time and become more efficient. I am able to help others minimize multi-tasking, devise more efficient work space techniques, and teach people numerous strategies (pomodoro technique, getting things done organizational method, among others) depending on their best individual fit.

I was an excellent student for the three sciences: biology, physics, and chemistry during middle school. Because of my outstanding work, I was nominated by faculty to pursue Biology at the higher level (British equivalent of AP Biology) and Physics at the standard level during high school. I believe my advanced knowledge in the sciences allows me to effectively teach middle school students any concept in the simplest fashion. I have experience tutoring children of all grades with cancer in different sciences and have also recently begun tutoring the American 8th grade science curriculum to students in Miami.
Social Studies Tutoring
As an Economics and International studies double major, with a minor in Business Law; I have become an expert in teaching others about the world, the nation, and the society around them. I also come from a multicultural background, and speak three languages. This has allowed me to understand and effectively teach the many facets of social studies such as global and national culture, government, economics, civic ideals, amongst others.

I have completed up to Calculus I at the University of Miami. I believe my advanced understanding of mathematics helps me effectively tutor the many areas that students often struggle with. I am able to teach in the simplest of fashions the many facets of algebra such as: exponents, scientific notations, equations, etc.

I have experience helping students write five paragraph essays, use unbiased language, set a tone for their papers, and a plethora of other techniques that I have learnt throughout my life.

Additionally, I have completed over 11 writing credits in my collegiate career. My advanced experience learning English, coupled with my ability to speak three languages has allowed me to teach people a language from the most basic level. This skill is translatable to teaching English as it has given me the expertise to teach things such sentence structure, days of the week, telling time, amongst others.
