Fun Facts

Through high school, I loved dancing. I took classes and was on the school's dance team, and basically any free time I had, that's what I was doing. Being 3 years out of it, I miss it and wish I would have kept it up because dance was such a huge part of me. I'm a creative person, and growing up I had a passion for art. I took all kinds of classes like drawing, sculpture, painting, and even wanted to be a fashion designer for a time. Luckily I passed that love down to one of my two sisters.

About Me

I am going into my senior year as a Psychology major at Texas Tech University. I have been on the President's List and Dean's List through my career, and a part of 3 honor societies. My minor is Exercise and Sport Sciences, and I plan to go into education/texas/austin">Special Education, and eventually get into an Occupational Therapy Master's program.

Experience

Being part of the Gamma Beta Phi National Honor Society, I have been able to work with elementary age kids at the Lubbock Children's Home on homework after school. I also had the opportunity to help teach two 7-year-old girls last summer through their home school program. I worked with them on all subjects and saw what it was like to be a austin">tutor. Recently, I was hired by the austin">tutoring center at Texas Tech to be a austin">tutor for college students with learning disabilities and I am eager to start.

Approach

Up until high school, I had difficulty with study skills and had poor time management skills. Junior year, I taught myself to manage time better, but it wasn't until college I learned how to study. With advice from teachers, I approached schoolwork differently, started studying way in advance of tests, and used better memory techniques. It's harder for some people & everyone learns in a unique way. Patience is everything- you can do anything as long as you have perseverance & self-motivation.
