Theatre is my absolute passion! I am always looking for a way to be performing, whether it is on stage, in the classroom or singing Karaoke!
About Me
I am a substitute teacher with Denver Public Schools and have been teaching in a school setting since 2010. I moved to Edinburgh, Scotland in 2013 to pursue a Master's in Theatre and Performance Studies at the University of Edinburgh. My eventual goal is to earn a PhD and teach at the college level, but my dream job is to direct plays.
Experience
I spent a year developing curriculum for students at risk of dropping out of high school. In doing so, I catered individualized lessons to Common Core standards which prepared my students for success on standardized tests. I have been a substitute teacher for two years.
Approach
At the elementary and middle-school level, I believe that the most important aspect of learning is to learn processes, meaning that the caliber of a research paper is not as important as learning the steps to writing a research paper. Those skills (study skills, testing skills, presentation skills) will prepare you for high school, where it is important to teach content so that students are performing at a level that helps them achieve their long-term goals.
