Fun Facts
Art has always been a huge part of my life, from the arts & crafts that filled my childhood to the art scholarship that helped pave my pathway to college. My favorite way to spend my free time is drawing, typically using charcoal or graphite. I also take pride in a healthy lifestyle and making sure to spend plenty of time outdoors. I enjoy running, yoga, and healthy cooking to ensure that I am always feeling my best. I also enjoy reading, music, and supporting my talented friends in their creative endeavors.
About Me
I grew up in the suburb Pearland (right outside of Houston, Tx) with a younger brother and two older sisters . I have always been very close to my family and friends, and am willing to help them out with whatever they may need. Currently, I am a senior undergraduate at the University of Texas in Austin, working towards a Bachelor in Architectural Studies and a Bachelor in Mathematics. I am still deciding which career path I will choose in the future; however, I hope that it will involve working with children in one way or another, because children excite, amuse, and inspire me in more ways than anybody else.
I have always helped others throughout my education with their problems/questions particularly in math. Math is a subject that I truly enjoy, so I am always enthusiastic to help others who are struggling and to bring them to my level of passion for the subject. From answering the questions other students had in my sixth grade class to teaching/prepping my friends in calculus for the AP Calculus BC test to giving my best friend a helping hand on his architecture model, I am always willing to lend a helping hand. Currently, I am helping my younger brother try to raise his pre-cal grade.
I believe that learning is largely based on confidence, and that when a student is succeeding in a subject, he/she continues to strive to do his/her best; however, when a grade begins to go down, the student begins to feel defeated and has trouble finding the motivation to work hard and bring the grade up. My goal is to help the student recover their enthusiasm and passion for learning. I do so by figuring out what studying techniques and learning methods work best with the student, and I am always willing to change my methods to meet the student's needs. I am very patient, hard-working, and will do whatever it takes to make sure a concept is grasped before moving on. Important studying habits are repetition, going through multiple examples, quizzing oneself, saying things aloud and writing them down. Of course, a positive attitude and encouragement are key.
