Fun Facts
Reading and playing sports are my passions. I have played soccer competitively for many years and have also played basketball, tennis and track. I have a brother and sister who are both younger than me. I thoroughly enjoy cooking and traveling as well, although, I do not get to do them as often as I would like. I went out of state for college and enjoyed my experiences, I learned a lot during college through my various coursework. I have been teaching for 2 years and love it.
About Me
I am currently working on my M.Ed in education/missouri/kansas-city">special education. I currently have a bachelors degree in psychology and criminal justice. I work as a education/missouri/kansas-city">special education teacher in an urban district. I work with students in a one on one or small group setting. Most of my experience has been with elementary education/missouri/kansas-city">special education students however, I also have experience with middle and high school students.
I graduated from carroll-university">Carroll University with a GPA of 3.6 and am currently attending UMKC.
Experience
In the past I have worked with kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students as a education/missouri/kansas-city">special education teacher. Currently, I am a education/missouri/kansas-city">special education teacher for 3rd grade students who have a variety of disabilities. In the past I have worked with students in elementary school, middle school and high school in various subjects. I love helping students discover their passion for learning and experience success in academics. I look forward to impacting even more students through tutoring them.
Approach
When I am working with students I always attempt to make it fun and engaging for the students. I believe it is important that students learn the concept to mastery and practice it in multiple ways. I focus on repetition and practice through multiple means. I utilize a lot of technology with my teaching through iPad's and computers. Oftentimes, the students are used to the technology and it is required for their school. I use the technology as a gateway to success.
