Fun Facts
I have three older brothers who all live in the Atlanta area. I love animals and have a dog and a horse, and in my free time I'm often at the barn riding or playing polo on horseback. I also play for the Emory Polo team during the school year! I love theater and film and grew up onstage and backstage, doing anything from singing and dancing to building sets. I also really love watching sports, especially women's soccer and women's hockey!
About Me
I am a rising junior at Emory University, where I'm pursuing a Playwriting degree and completing a Media Studies minor. I hope to be a part of Emory's 4+1 program and earn a Master's in Film and Media studies. My goal is to work in theater or film in production or management, to support myself as a play or screenwriter.
Experience
I began atlanta">tutoring younger students in middle school, primarily in life sciences and literature. In high school I was a Peer Leader, in charge of a homeroom of Freshmen, who I helped acclimate to the high school experience and assisted with homework and study skills whenever the need arose. As a writing major I have plenty of experience in workshops, giving constructive criticism to other writers and helping weed out grammar and syntax issues.
Approach
Starting in 4th grade I found myself struggling in school--not with the concepts, but with working in a focused way. I skipped fifth grade and entered middle school a year early, which then forced me to re-evaluate the way I studied and accomplished tasks in a timely fashion. With the help of one particular High School History teacher, I learned that I was capable of much more than I gave myself credit for. I want to empower younger students to discover the same about themselves!

Playwriting
Arts Tutoring
As a playwriting student I have experience onstage and backstage. I have taken many acting classes and am trained in Stanislavsky and Meisner theories.

I have taken two history courses so far in college and have done well in both. I took three AP history classes in high school, where I learned the ideal ways to study and write about history.

As a playwriting major, I have taken both play-reading and literature-reading classes, and excel in analyzing and understanding fiction and nonfiction.

AP English Tutoring
I took both AP Literature and AP Language in high school and earned 5's on both exams.

I took AP Early World History, AP US History, and AP European History in high school. In college I have taken a Latin American History course (where I earned an A) and a Theater History course (where I earned an A-).
Geography Tutoring
I have taken 3 AP History classes and two history classes in college, all of which have required geographical knowledge. I also took geography in middle school and did well in it.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
I am proficient in elementary math and have taken geometry, pre-algebra, algebra and AP Statistics.
SAT Verbal/Writing Tutoring
My experience as a student of English language and literature as well as my exceptionally high SAT Verbal/Writing scores qualify me to tutor in this area.
Science Tutoring
I excelled in biology and life sciences in middle and high school, and earned a C in Emory's competitive pre-med track Biology 141 despite being a playwriting major and it being approximately 4 years since my last exposure to the subject. Physics and Chemistry are not my specialties, but Earth Sciences and Biology are things I can explain and teach well.

I am proficient in elementary math and have taken geometry, pre-algebra, algebra and AP Statistics.
Homework Coach Tutoring
In middle school especially, I struggled to motivate myself to finish my work on time. Having to learn ways to motivate myself makes me an ideal candidate for motivating other students.

I aced social studies in elementary school and have taken three AP History courses as well as two (so far) college-level history courses. As an arts student I also have had many classes touch on other aspects of social studies, especially culture.

I have been playing the guitar since I was about 13 and can teach chords as well as tablature. I have experience with both the acoustic and electric guitar and have my own (both types) as well as an amp.
Voice (Music) Tutoring
I have had 4+ years of vocal training, both private and at Stagedoor Manor in New York (notable alums include Natalie Portman and Robert Downey Jr). I have extensive knowledge of safe and effective vocal technique, have performed in private concerts, in musicals as both ensemble and supporting lead, and in show choir.
