Fun Facts
Back in the elementary school, there was a reading program called Accelerated Reading. I really wanted to get the highest score that year, so I read a 150-200 page book about every day of the week. At the end of the school year I had 800 points, almost double the second place student.
Back in intermediate school, the principal posed a challenge to all of the students. If any student could beat him in chess, he would take them out for a steak. I beat him three times, sadly I only got one steak.
About Me
I am a Ph.D. student at Purdue/IUPUI, majoring in mechanical engineering. My specialty is in numerical methods and dynamics, with a focus in gear dynamics. I have a passion for programming.
Currently, I am interning at Cummins, a FORTUNE 500 company. Cummins specializes in diesel engines, and is the largest provider in North America. This year marks my third year as an intern. I work in the Structural and Dynamic Analysis group, which is a R&T group. Next year, I plan on starting full time.
Experience
I earned three degrees in 4.5 years in applied mathematics and mechanical engineering. These degrees include: a B.S. in Applied Mathematics, a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
In addition to my experience as an intern at Cummins, I also was a manager for six years at a local diner, Edwards Drive-In. Also, this past year I was a teachers assistant for several undergraduate engineering courses, where I led the class through a review of the previous lectures.
Approach
There are two keys to success as a student: crib sheets and focusing on problems that will be covered on exams. Crib sheets compile all the information you need to know in one location, and are a great tool for studying. Focusing on the areas of a subject that have the highest chance to appear on an exam is an efficient use of your time.
For every exam the student should create a crib sheet, and for every exam the student should focus on problems that will have the largest weight on an exam
