Fun Facts
I love to bake sweets for people to the extent that I can be an aggressive cupcake-giver, but I also enjoy the challenge of coming up with healthy recipes that don't taste healthy. I also love singing and was in an all-female a cappella group at my first college. My favorite way to get physically active is saber fencing!
About Me
Right now I am a rising senior at the University of Rhode Island, and I am currently studying Economics. I've consistently been on the Dean's List. Before I went to URI, I completed my first two years of college at the College of William & Mary in Virginia, where I was a monroe">Monroe Scholar. Ultimately I would like to work for a nonprofit related to economics, especially one dedicated to eradicating unfair levels of economic inequality.
Experience
My first student was in eighth grade while I was in twelfth grade and I tutored her in math to great success. I also tutored a friend in Calculus I, which he had already failed twice, and he received an A under my guidance. I have tutored four different people in statistics, two of them for the duration of online classes they were taking. I also tutored two of those same people in macroeconomics. The first student I ever taught received a B, but all my students since have received A grades.
Approach
The first time I tutored, I realized my student was fully capable of comprehending the material with which she was struggling. However, she wasn't being taught in a way that aligned with her learning style (visual). Since then, I have found that everyone has a different learning style when learning math-based subjects, which can be found mainly through having students thoroughly write out steps to solving problems and incorporating different representations of problems (ex. graphs, examples

Calculus I Tutoring
I took AP Calculus I in my senior year of high school and received a grade of A. I also received a 5 on the AP Calculus I exam, the highest possible score, and have tutored this subject before (my student got an A grade, a dramatic improvement from his failing calculus before, in his college Calculus class).
Economics Tutoring
I am a general Economics major at the University of Rhode Island and have in tutored macroeconomics before to great success. I am qualified as a general Economics tutor because I am capable of explaining complicated writings on and ideas of economics due to my familiarity with the subject. In addition to microeconomics and macroeconomics, I have also taken economics courses on historical economists, labor economics, critiques of capitalism, and health economics. My grades in college economics courses are typically in the A range.
Elementary Statistics Tutoring
I took Elementary Statistics my sophomore year of college and, in addition to truly enjoying it, received a B grade. That being said, I have tutored multiple students in introductory statistics since then and am now very familiar with it, and students have said I was extremely helpful every time. My impact was reflected in a positive boost in all of their grades.
Macro Economics Tutoring
I have completed a principles of macroeconomics course before, as a sophomore in college, and have since tutored two students for the duration of their online courses in economics. They both received A grades. Topics covered include monetary and fiscal policy, different kinds of markets, calculating GDP, etc. Furthermore, as an economics major I have been applying macroeconomic ideas in all of my classes for some time now.
Micro-Economics Tutoring
I received a B grade in the principles of microeconomics course I took as a sophomore, but as an economics major I have been applying the concepts of microeconomics - including supply and demand, market equilibrium, elasticities, different types of goods, price controls, and many other topics - for several years now in all of my economics classes. My high math abilities and experience tutoring math subjects in the past make me especially competent regarding microeconomics. Furthermore, in group projects for economics classes I often assist my peers in understanding the more mathematical microeconomic principles.
Pre Calculus Tutoring
I took pre-calculus in high school and received an A grade. I loved pre-calculus to the extent that I would sometimes do practice trigonometric identity problems from my textbook in my spare time! My enthusiasm and aptitude for precalculus makes me well qualified to tutor in it, as does the fact that I helped other students understand and complete their homework in this subject in high school.
Algebra Tutoring
As an economics major I regularly draw from my knowledge of algebra when solving equations, graphing, and the like. Although I took my first algebra class in eighth grade, I have been sharpening my understanding of it ever since and have never received a grade lower than an A in any algebra-based course. I also tutored an eighth grader in math when I was a senior in high school and, ironically, initially struggled with algebra before it "clicked" with me one day, so I am very capable of making it easy for other people.
Algebra II Tutoring
I took Algebra II as a sophomore in high school and received an A+. It was an easy subject for me and, as with many of my other math classes, I would frequently help my friends with their homework. I am confident I could easily tutor this subject.
Calculus Tutoring
As I wrote in my college Calculus I description, I received an excellent grade in calculus as a high school senior, both in my class and on the AP exam (I received the highest-possible score of 5). I have also tutored in calculus before and my student, who had failed the subject spectacularly twice before, got an A in his class under my tutelage.
Calculus AP Tutoring
I did extremely well in my calculus class in high school, got a 5 on the AP Calculus I exam, and have tutored to great success before in calculus. I studied with several of my friends for the Calculus AP exam and helped explain different concepts to them, and they found my tips and advice to be valuable.
Statistics Tutoring
I took Elementary Statistics as a sophomore in college and have used some statistical principles in a couple of my economics classes since then. I received very good grades in all those classes and genuinely enjoy statistics, especially the topic of hypothesis testing. Statistics is also the subject for which I have tutored the highest number of students and all of them did very well in their statistics classes.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
Since I still use math concepts and operations in my economics classes I am still very familiar and comfortable with the topics of pre algebra. I have tutored in eighth-grade math before and some pre algebra was naturally involved in that student's work, so I also have experience tutoring this subject.
