About Me
After graduating from Trinity University with a B.S. in Biochemistsry and Molecular Biology, I made my way to Denver to work at National Jewish Health. In my time as a Lab Researcher, I had to good fortune to publish a novel research article on asthma related inflammation in the lung. Though I continue to cultivate a love for science, I moved on from academia to pursue a career as a denver">Tutor and Personal Chef.
Experience
I spent two years in an asthma research lab at National Jewish Health. In addition, I have extensive collegiate coursework in Biology, Biochemistry, and Cell Biology with secondary focuses in chemistry and mathematics. I denver">tutor students in Denver in mathematics, and in college I independently tutored both peers and high-school students.
Approach
I believe in working with students to set up unique and personalized strategies to gain a holistic understanding of the topic at hand. I aim to guide students to a conceptual understanding of the subject material that they can apply concretely in unique situations. I believe in patience, persistence, and positive reinforcement with students, and truly believe any student can overcome their most difficult academic hurdles with the right support system.

I love understanding and explaining how biology works as a cellular and molecular system. I excelled in molecular and cellular biology, earning A's in some of the most difficult classes at Trinity. In these classes my peers and I took to tutoring each other to become an expert on a small chunk of the course-material and bring the other members of the group to a similar level of understanding.

I believe high school students are capable of understanding and applying biological concepts at a much higher level than they or even their school thinks possible. Biology is a complex and integrated system from individual cells all the way to the environment that we interact with on a daily basis. I believe many teachers either lack the time or expertise to fully convey the intricacies subject, and small gaps in the material leave a student with questions they don't even know how to ask. I hope to provide that context that is necessary for a student to fully grasp any subject matter that might give them trouble.

I believe in Science and the Scientific method as a springboard for critical thinking in young people. Having taken over 50 credit hours of Scientific classes at Trinity University, I feel comfortable conveying Science and Scientific thinking in any discipline to high school students.
