Fun Facts
I love the ocean and going to the beach which is why I chose a career as a marine scientist, which will keep me in close proximity to the coast. My favorite animals are fish and I even have a seven inch pet oscar. I graduated high school at sixteen and have been working full or part time ever since. Right now I'm an environmental intern at a storm water consulting agency. I will be leaving my internship in August because I'm going start as a teaching assistant at UT through my graduate program.
About Me
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Marine Biology in May 2012. I will be back at UT in the fall when I start my doctorate program in marine science. I will be researching fish reproductive endocrinology, toxicology and physiology. I hope to become a professor at a top research university once I complete my graduate degree.
I have had the privileged of being able to help my fiance's sons during periods when they were struggling with school. They are 9 and 12 years old, and have recently had a hard time adapting to the increasing difficulty of their class work. Being able to help them overcome their lack of confidence while getting them back on track has shown me that I have a passion for helping other learn. I am excited to help other students overcome their difficulties in school through Frog austin">Tutoring!
My austin">tutoring approach entails developing a student's sense of confidence in themselves. Building on what a student is already comfortable with, my goal is to get them to understand the material and make connections. With a well rounded understanding of the material, students are better prepared for difficult test questions and will retain what they have learned after the semester is over.
