Fun Facts

Many people are surprised that my number one hobby is actually doing math. I've always somewhat enjoyed math, but it has turned into a passion within the last couple years. I must say that when I was a kid, I never really envisioned myself going to college.

About Me

I am entering my second year at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee. I will either be majoring in Pure Mathematics or Actuarial Science. My current intended major is actuarial science. I completed my first year with a 3.667 GPA. I received excellent grades in College Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Statistics, and Microeconomics. I will be taking Calculus 2 and Macroeconomics this upcoming semester.

Experience

I recently had the opportunity to volunteer as a math milwaukee">tutor in a middle school. I worked with seventh graders doing remedial math and was assigned to a 6th grade classroom. I am also a private milwaukee">tutor through the online site Thumbtack. I have had pretty extensive experience milwaukee">tutoring 5th grade math all the way up to the college level.

Approach

Before I was officially enrolled in college my passion for math was reignited. So much so that I would actually do math for fun. I feel that once you understand basic concepts with any level of math, anyone has the potential to be successful and in turn have a lot of fun doing math. As a milwaukee">tutor, I want students to have a true understanding of the concepts and ideas, instead of just being able to arrive at an answer. This understanding can be empowering and spark a curiosity to learn more.
