Fun Facts
I absolutely LOVE to read. Anytime I am not working I am reading something. And anytime I am not reading I am doing something outdoors. I love hiking and exploring the great outdoors. I am originally from Georgia where I am a certified teacher. I decided to move across the country to Colorado where I am now living life to the fullest.
About Me
I am a graduate from the University of North Georgia with a Middle Grades Education degree in Language Arts and Social Studies. UNG is actually a military college in Georgia, so I had a very unique college experience. I graduated with a 3.62 GPA. In the future, I hope to attend the University to get my Masters in Education.
Experience
In high school, I took as education class that allowed me to go to the elementary school across the street and denver">tutor Kindergarten-5th grade students every week. In college, I worked with students of all ages both through the education program I participated in and through individual denver">tutoring sessions. My student teaching took place in both 8th grade Social Studies and 7th grade Language Arts. I took over all teaching responsibilities for all students for about 4 months.
Approach
With my degree in Middle Grades Education, I have learned age specific approaches and strategies to work with children from 4th to 8th grades. Positive attitudes, encouragement, and praise are all important for students, especially in this age group. It is important to teach students the content, but also teach students how to learn. Study strategies and metacognitive strategies will be emphasized to help students succeed in all classes.

Middle Grades Education
English Tutoring
I am a certified Language Arts teacher in the state of Georgia, and I am working on becoming certified in Colorado. I student taught Language Arts in 7th Grade for 7 months and I have tutored several students before and after school.
History Tutoring
I am a certified Social Studies teacher in the state of Georgia. I am in the process of becoming certified in Colorado. I student taught in an 8th grade Social Studies classroom for 3 months and worked with students both individually and in group settings.
Homework Coach Tutoring
Through my student teaching experience, I have had to help students become organized and focused in doing their homework. I stayed after school to help students prioritized and schedule the work they needed to do for projects and daily work.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Reading Comprehension is a huge part of Language Arts and with my educational background, I have an endless supply of strategies to help all struggling students. I have taken several strategy classes in college, and I have put these strategies to use in the classroom with real students.
Study Skills Tutoring
Being a teacher means you need to teach study skills. It is essential for students to succeed in school. I have helped several students learn how to prioritize the important information and use quick and easy strategies to help them memorize information.
Writing Tutoring
Writing is a huge part of Language Arts. In college, I took several classes on teaching writing and writing strategies. I put these strategies to use in my student teaching experience.
