About Me

I'm an undergraduate student in Northeastern University entering my fifth year, pursing a Bachelors degree in Applied Mathematics. I'm interested in actuarial sciences and education. In addition to studying math, I also am pursuing a minor in writing. I grew up in Wayne, New Jersey and attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology for two years until I transferred to Northeastern two years ago. I'm passionate about mathematics, writing, and Asian-American culture.

I have been a peer mentor for an organization called Asian American Students in Action (AASIA). This program seeks to provide incoming Asian American students with immediate support and community. I eased my protege's transition into college and helped adjust academically, socially, and become more involved in college life. In addition to this program, I have been a volunteer boston">tutor in my previous college focusing on teaching calculus and probability.

My approach to boston">tutoring is to adapt to the learning style of whoever I am teaching. This comes with being well prepared with knowledge of the material, and having a goal in mind with each session. Learning is a two way street. As much as I try to force the student to learn the material, there will be no progress if there is no willingness from the student. Therefore I try to be more engaging so that the student can develop a interest in learning the topic. I do this by showing a genuine interest in what I am teaching, showing them how this material is relevant to their life, and pushing them to their true potential as a student. I believe intrinsic motivation is the key to building not only academic success, but life-long success as well. Aside from teaching basic fundamental principles, I hope to foster critical thinking, facilitate in the acquisition of learning skills, and develop problem solving skills.
