I'm from California and I absolutely love the ocean! I learned how to surf in Hawaii and can't wait to do it again. I love nineties rock and country music. When I'm not interning or going to class, I can be found exploring DC or reading.
About Me
I am a senior at the washington-university">George washington-university">Washington University majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. I have interned at a variety of organizations, such as a Fortune 500 tech company, a Georgetown PR firm, the Department of the Interior, and Gallup. Following graduation, I want to work at a PR firm or marketing agency, get my MBA, and then eventually open my own PR firm.
Experience
Upon beginning college in DC, I began volunteering at Centronia in maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia Heights where I tutored children ages 5-15 twice a week. I tutored them in the areas of English and math. I have had other washington-dc">tutoring experience with young children back in California.
Approach
I often realized in school, that many students, myself included, tried to memorize facts and formulas to prepare for the next assessment rather than actually learning and understanding the information. As a washington-dc">tutor, I believe it is important to help the student actually understand the information so they can build off of it and learn to love it. I think a positive and discussion based learning environment is the best for students:

I have taken a variety of business classes, including business law, marketing, and business and government relations. I have been extremely involved and attentive in my business classes and have a passion for the subject as well. As a business major with a concentration in marketing, these classes helped build the foundation for success.
Communication Tutoring
As a marketing major, communication is a key aspect. I have had many internships that require the knowledge of various communications techniques, including an internship at a PR firm in Georgetown and an internship at the Department of the Interior in the Office of Communications.
Literature Tutoring
Reading is one of my passions. I took AP English classes in high school and did extremely well.
Psychology Tutoring
I have taken Business Psychology and Introductory Psychology in college as well as AP Psych in high school.
Writing Tutoring
As a business major, writing is an essential skill. I have strengthened my writing skills through writing for GW's newspaper, blogging, and interning in the PR and marketing fields.
