When not nurturing young minds, I am bouncing round dance studios perfecting my swing out or singing arias; only breaking to hop on my bike in search of tacos!
I am classically trained opera singer with a background in German, Italian, and American opera. If you want to know, my favorite role was Madame Peep in Oedipus Tex where I had to learn to flamenco dance!

About Me

I am a born and raised Minnesotan transplanted recently to New York City. I graduated from St. Ben's/St. John's in Minnesota in 2011 with a degree in Communication and Music. I recently went back to school for Pre Occupational Therapy at DePaul University in Chicago. I am hoping to earn my teaching certificate while in New York and a master's in Occupational Therapy.

I have a background in healthcare administration in addition to my years of tutoring and youth development experience.

Experience

I began tutoring in Academics 3 years ago as a volunteer on the west side of Chicago and now I currently tutor a minimum of 30 students a week in math enrichment, reading (using the Wilson Program), and study skills. I have worked in a classroom setting for the past year teaching, reading, math, and science for k-2.

Approach

I know that struggling in academics is a huge frustration that effects not only grades but also a student's confidence.
When working with a student, my goal is to create a safe and fun environment to enhance academics and foster a love of learning. By using fresh methods, regular check ins with the student, and tailored learning plans to coincide with the way the student learns best. With this I am able to help students reach their full potential academically and intellectually.
