Fun Facts
One passion people often associate with me is my creativity. Whenever I have a chance, I like to scrapbook and work on my cross stitch, as well as find new creative alternatives to my lesson plans. I am the oldest of five and have lived in many different places as a child before moving to New Mexico as a teenager. I enjoy singing, especially when there is no one around.
About Me
I am an educational assistant, at a local middle school in Albuquerque. I recently graduated from the phoenix">University of Phoenix with a bachelors degree in Elementary Education - English Language Arts. I eventually want to go back and get my Masters in Secondary Education. Someday I might find myself working with high school students. In the meantime, I enjoy working with middle school students.
Experience
When I began working with children it was with Preschool - Pre K children. I eventually wanted something different and I began working with older children in middle school. I found a new passion and joy in teaching. In my current job I am lucky to have the opportunity to work one-on-one with the students and teachers. During the last few summers I have worked with a student in reading, writing & this summer in math. I love being able to work one-on-one with students.
Approach
As a child, I would have rather been in school than at home. I always found such joy and passion about being in school. I was fortunate enough to go through elementary, middle and high school taking every opportunity and advantage that my education would provide me. When I work with students I try to provide these same experiences and desires with my students. I try to encourage each student to believe in themselves and know that they can do whatever they want if they put forth the effort.

English Tutoring
During my time in college I took several literature and classes that specialized in diagnosis and remediation. In these classes I received A's. During the last three summers I have tutored the same child in English, reading, writing, and Comprehension.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
During college I took a class that was specifically designed to help us learn how to teach children how to improve their reading comprehension. In this class I received an A. During the last 3 summers I have tutored the same young man in reading comprehension, as well as during my class designed lesson plans to help students encourage their reading comprehension using games.
Writing Tutoring
In college I took several American Literature classes and essentials to writing class that required several in depth reflection and reaction papers. In these classes I received A's. During the last three summers I have tutored the same student in his writing process.
Elementary Math Tutoring
In college I took several classes in math designed to teach us how to teach math to the elementary student. In one of the classes I received a C+, in another I received a B- and in the last class I received an A. This summer is my first time at tutoring my student in math.
History Tutoring
During my college career I took several history classes that allowed us to experience American history as well as history through the middle ages. In all of these classes I received A's. I have not done an y specific tutoring but I have designed several lesson plans during my college classes focused on history.
