Fun Facts

My favorite sport to play is lacrosse. In high school I was a goalie for four years. When it comes to watching sports I enjoy hockey games. On campus, I am involved in the community, interested in different events including watching sporting events as well as others that exposing religion and culture. Being a member of the Student Activities Board allows me to be involved with student activities such as setting up concerts and meet professional artists who come to play at my college.

About Me

As a rising sophomore at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva New York, I am currently focusing on studying Mathematics and Environmental Studies. Mathematics has always be my strong subject, one that I enjoy learning more about. Likewise, the environment is an important aspect of our future and I am striving towards a future where I can help our planet sustain life. Nature intrigues me and I hope to one day travel the globe for a hands on experience to study the Earth.

In high school, I become very open and involved in my community through various programs. One program, College For Every Student (CFES) exposed me to become a mentor to under classmen in my school. While being in the program I was expected to assist a younger classman in his/her homework once a week after school hours. This is when I learned that being a mentor did not only mean helping someone with homework. I also experienced what it meant to be reliable, a trustworthy person who made their self available when they were needed as a friend with helpful feedback to a situation or one who can listen when others would not. Though being a mentor is a huge responsibility, it creates a bond of friendship that helped me become more independent.

Because everyone learns differently, it is important that a bronx">tutoring builds a stable foundation with the material they are assisting with. There are many ways to approach a mathematics problem and the one thing to keep in mind is the bronx">tutor needs to use the student’s strengths to build their confidence and encourage their ability to learn. Rather than giving answers, a student needs to learn techniques and strategies that will allow them to understand the problem and how to go about solving it. In order to create a mentoring relationship, the mentor needs to establish a relationship based on respect and reliance.
