Fun Facts
I enjoy many activities. I especially love Tennis! I have played tennis since I was about 11 years old, and now still play as often as I get an opportunity!
I also enjoy reading, other sports, and family activities. I have 2 cats and 2 dogs, and 2 teenagers!
About Me
I am a certified Elementary Teacher, ELAR 4-8, and have an ESL supplemental certification, as well as Physical Education certification. I've been a Substitute Teacher for over 15 years, and a tutor for over 8 years now.
I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and got my teacher certification from East Texas State University (now called Texas A & M Commerce)
Experience
I have been a Substitute Teacher for many years now, and I've had the chance to substitute in many schools, grade-levels, and subjects. I have been a long-term substitute a couple times, and have enjoyed working with many students.
I have tutored for a company in Frisco, Tx. for the last 4 years, as well as tutoring some of my own students for the last several years.
Additionally, I've taught swim lessons to children and adults of all ages for the last 17 years.
Approach
I believe in a loving yet firm approach. I was a shy student growing up and was intimidated by teachers who weren't patient with me. I was generally a quick learner, but struggled with certain concepts in more difficult subjects.
I love working with motivated students who enjoy learning, but I also like to help anxious students who need to build up their confidence in learning.

OtherGeography Tutoring
I have taken several Geography/History classes throughout my school career. I have been a substitute teacher for several Middle and High School Geography classes.
I tutored a 6th grade student in all her core subjects last year, including History/Geography
Psychology Tutoring
I have taken several Psychology courses. I took beginning Psychology at UT Austin and made a "B".
I aslo have taken several courses in Occupational Therapy at TWU, which entailed Psychology?Mental Health.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I have an ELAR certification for grades 4-8, and an ESL supplemental certification for all grade levels.
I have tutored many students from pre-school level - middle school level with reading strategies, and fluency development.
Study Skills Tutoring
I have tutored several students in the last several years with general study skills. I have also helped students as a substitute teacher with these skills.
History Tutoring
I have been a Substitute Teacher in many Social Studies and History courses in Middle an High School. I also have taken several History, Government, and Economics classes.
Homework Coach Tutoring
I have tutored several students during the past 8-10 years as a Homework Coach.
Middle School Math Tutoring
I have just recently been a tutor for a Sixth grade girl, and helped her quite a lot with her Math. I also have been a substitute teacher in several Middle and High School Math courses.
Music Theory Tutoring
I played the flute for several years in Middle and High School. I took piano lessons, as well, as a young girl. I have had a continued interest in Music throughout my life.
Religion Tutoring
I have taken many Bible Studies during the past several years. I also enjoy learning about different religions, but I am mainly familiar with Christianity.
Science Tutoring
I have had several classes in Geology, and Health and Medical Science. I also have been a substitute teacher for several Middle and High School Science classes.
Writing Tutoring
I was a Speech Communications major in college, and did a lot of writing at that time. I've also tutted and worked with many students for the last 10 - 15 years in Elementary and Middle School Language Arts classes.
