Fun Facts

I am an avid concert goer and love live music and dancing and I enjoy frisbee golfing in the summer and skiing in winter. I have recently started screen printing as a hobby and graphic design and even though I'm no Picasso, I still enjoy being creative.

About Me

I received a BS in Construction Management from Colorado State University after which I worked in the construction industry managing commercial building projects. I left the industry to pursue a degree in Integrative Biology from the University of Colorado Denver and graduated in 2014. I plan on applying for a Masters in Biotechnology and Biomedical Sciences at UCD and eventually seek a PhD or MD at Anschutz Medical Campus.

Experience

During my time at UCD I worked for the university as a denver">tutor offering a wide range of chemistry and physics courses. I taught organic chemistry laboratory classes and Supplemental Instruction which consisted of free sessions that supplemented lecture materials in traditionally difficult classes. I developed worksheets for SI and generated hundreds of practice test questions for students as well other denver">tutors. I have been denver">tutoring college students for over 4 years and truly enjoy teaching.

Approach

I think that giving students positive reinforcement and encouragement is very important and making them confident and comfortable with the material is very important. However, I have found that providing real life examples that relate to student's everyday lives helps to solidify understanding of subjects better than any other tactic. I also believe in constant review of previous material and try to emphasize those types study habits.
