Fun Facts
I grew up moving a lot. I've lived in South Korea, England, Japan, and California, usually only staying in a place for a few years. Because of all that traveling, I enjoy going out and exploring new places! I'm always up for going to an exotic place and I enjoy traveling a lot. I am also very interested in photography. I hope one day that I can publish my own photography art book/s full of pictures that I take whenever I go travel.
About Me
I am a junior at northridge">California State University Northridge. I am majoring in Linguistics and minoring in TESL and Japanese. I have been on the Dean's List for three semesters. After I graduate, I hope to go on to earn my Masters Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. My career goal is to work as an ESL teacher in an international school overseas.
Experience
During my last two years of high school, I was a volunteer English tutor at my church, tutoring two elementary school girls. Also during my senior year, I had the opportunity to take an "Intro to Teaching" class. During that class period, I was a student teacher in a kindergarten class. After starting college, I didn't have a chance to continue my volunteer work, but this past summer I became a conversational English tutor to two college students visiting from Japan.
Approach
Because my mother's first language wasn't English, I didn't have anyone to help me with homework. When I was in the 4th grade, I met an amazing teacher who did her best to help me. She gave me private after school English lessons. If it wasn't for her, I probably would not have to the passion to help children, as I do now. As a tutor, I hope to be able to do the same thing for my students as my teacher did for me. I would like to show the same compassion and teach them the best I can.

Linguistics
English Tutoring
I've tutored elementary students for almost two years in high school. I also took a class that allowed me to work with elementary students in a classroom setting. I worked with many students that had difficulty with English. I am currently a Linguistics major in college and I hope to pursue a career as an English teacher.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
I tutored elementary school students for two years in high school. I often used activity books that were provided to me, Reading comprehension was a big focus in those books and so I've spent a lot of time working with children on this topic.
Writing Tutoring
I've worked a lot with children and young adults on writing. As a college student, writing is a big part of my academics. I've been able to help many with their writing. During my tutoring sessions, I'd often provide writing prompts to my students and have them write on that prompt. Afterwards, I'd go over whatever mistakes they had made.
