Fun Facts
I grew up on an island on the Equator, called Brunei Darussalam, finished school in India, and now on the other side of the world, enjoying every minute of it! In my free time in Austin, I dance for a West African Drum and Dance Ensemble called Lannaya and go see all the live music Austin has to offer. My favorite thing about me is my scar that looks like Barney with no legs 0.0 I'm also a fan of the Oxford Comma.
About Me
I recently finished my Masters of Science in Social Work (MSSW) from UT Austin and got my Bachelors of Science in Psychology from LSU. I am interested in getting more experience of teaching and mentoring students as I believe this will help me become a better professional. This setting helps me gain more face-time with the youth of today in a more relaxed setting than educational institutions which I have also worked in the past.
Experience
I have worked with middle and high school students as well as college students in numerous capacities. Academically I have tutored them, professionally I have provided therapeutic guidance and have also conducted leadership and personal development workshops. Feel free to contact me for my full CV :).
Approach
My counseling and social justice background really comes into play here. I am a believer of patiently mentoring and guiding your student through the process by teaching them skills to succeed. My focus is strengths-based where each student's strengths will help them improve their 'areas of growth'. This ways they can problem solve in all facets without needing me at all times.
