About Me
In becoming a washington-dc">tutor, I aspire above all else to impart not just improved grades, but a love of learning to my clients.
If there's one thing I can leave behind me that is truly lasting, it is this. I love to see my students go from reluctance to actually becoming excited about new material.
In the past, I've worked with kids all through the K-12 range as well as adults. I've taught reading-comprehension/virginia/washington-dc">reading comprehension, literacy, and English as a second language. I am here to continue the rewarding work of being a washington-dc">tutor.
When I washington-dc">tutor, I like to keep a pack of notecards handy so I can write down points a student is having trouble with. Not only do these serve as flashcards, they allow me to find patterns in difficulties the student is experiencing and addressing them accordingly.
I try to find a balance in materials I use when teaching clients. Too easy and nothing is learned. Too hard and the client is discouraged. Nevertheless, I sometimes like to have challenge sessions to show students firsthand that they are better prepared for more advanced material than they think.
