About Me
I am finishing up my residency at the miami">University of Miami in pediatric psychology. Prior to residency, I have conducted psychological and health-related research, mentored a number of university students from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and tutored a middle school student. My goal is to become professor of psychology to teach students and conduct research in a university setting.
Experience
During my doctoral training at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, I had the opportunity of mentoring and miami">tutoring many University students, as well as a middle school student. I particularly enjoyed investing in my students and watching them become academic superstars! For example, many of my undergraduate scholars have presented their research at national conferences. The middle school student I tutored also benefited as he saw drastic improvements in his math grade.
Approach
I am very much rooted in a strengths-based approach to miami">tutoring. That is, I spend time identifying the child/adolescent's strengths (e.g., motivation, language) to help address the areas of weakness. Ultimately, in addition to teaching and practicing academic concepts, I try to instill a sense of self efficacy and confidence in each of the students I miami">tutor.

I have tutored a middle school student in reading comprehension with great success. I have used resources from SAT books, as well as the NY Times and Times Magazine to build strong reading comprehension skills. Further, in my line work, reading comprehension is critical to success and I have developed skills/strategies over time.

I use Microsoft (MS) Windows and, in particular, MS Office, very frequently!

I use MS Word frequently! I have published manuscripts using MS Word and have written long manuscripts (100 pages or more) using MS Word.
SPSS Tutoring
I use SPSS, Mplus, and occasionally SAS in my research projects.
