About Me
I am currently preparing to enter my sophomore year of University at washington-university">Trinity washington-university">Washington University in washington-dc">Washington DC. I am a double major in Political Science and Communications. I hope someday to be a news journalist, however, I really just want to do something that allows me to be involved in politics and write on a daily basis as I have a love and passion for both of these things.
I have worked as a washington-dc">tutor both formally and informally through out most of high school as well as college. During high school, I worked as an English washington-dc">tutor at a local elementary school where once a week I worked with 2nd and 3rd grade students. I had so much fun working with the kids, and was so proud at the end of the year when the kids began to insist on reading to ME instead of me reading to them! Currently, I washington-dc">tutor a lot of students on campus in various subjects.
I have always been very intelligent, however, when I was younger, I struggled in school because often times, the lessons were taught in a way that wasn't conducive to my learning style. As a result, I would have trouble on tests and class assignments, and end up having to go home and relearn the lesson in a different way in order to do well in school. As I got older, I realized that I was not the only person having this problem--school is taught in a way that aims to cater to large amounts of people. However, if you're in the minority, you may not understand something that others are easily picking up--in other words, its not always what you say, but the way you present what you say. For this reason, when I washington-dc">tutor, I really try to focus on helping the student find a learning method that is right for them, and then help them perfect that method so that they can do well.
