Fun Facts

I studied Photography all 4 years of High school, and has been my passion ever since. I am the third eldest among 5 kids, which makes me the middle child. Growing up, I've always been the artistic kid. I enjoy going to art galleries downtown on my spare time. I speak Arabic as my second language.

About Me

I am currently pursuing a major in Elementary Education with a minor in Psychology at Northeastern Illinois University. I have been a kid-magnet all my life, which is where my passion for teaching came from. For 2 years, I was the Vice President of the Muslim Student Association. I plan to go back for my Master's in Bilingual Education. My goal is to earn a position as a fifth or sixth grade teacher at a local Elementary school.

Experience

I have been teaching Arabic, Quran and Islamic studies at my local mosque for about 4 years now . I also currently chicago">tutor those subjects in the comfort of people's homes. I tutored 3rd grade math for a year. I volunteer at Lutheran General Hospital in the Pediatrics Department. Frog chicago">tutoring will help me earn more experience in chicago">tutoring children with all sorts of learning capabilities, which will strengthen my teaching skills.

Approach

I find it ironic how the one subject I struggled with the most in high school, is the subject I am confident to teach now. Math has always felt like a different language to me because of the lack of attention my high school teachers provided to students. I am a firm believer in pedagogy(art of teaching). Teaching is not about how good you are in the subject, It is about how well you can get in the students' minds, and help them understand material. The key is patience and understanding.
