About Me

After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Bucknell University In 2009, a passion for the sciences led me away from the business world to pursue a career in medicine. I have just completed two years of pre-med classes with a 4.0 GPA in the SFSU post baccalaureate program, and currently I am in the process of applying to medical school so that I may become a physician. Although I have much to experience before deciding upon a specialty, circumstances have driven my medical interests in two directions: genetic disorders, and toxicology.

My first experience tutoring was back In high school through the program Study Buddies, where I helped socioeconomically disadvantaged students complete their homework assignments, and prepare for exams. Working as a camp counselor, coaching a little league baseball team, and teaching autistic children the fundamentals of basketball, has allowed me to serve as a mentor to numerous individuals. Over the past two years, I have excelled in my science courses, and find myself regularly helping my classmates obtain a tighter grasp on the material.

When it comes to teaching, I feel like the most important thing a tutor can do is have a genuine passion for the topics being covered. Enthusiasm is contagious! Science classes also require excellent organization skills, and the ability to summarize the material into study guides, diagrams, and notecards. I am also a strong proponent of visual learning, and often like to incorporate U-tube videos into lessons to help clarify difficult concepts in physics, biology, and chemistry when words in a text book are not enough. I know what it takes to be at the top of the class, and I know that my methods will help students grasp both the big picture and the "nitty gritty" details. My goal as a tutor is two fold: help my students improve their grades, and inspire them so that they actually enjoy learning the material.
