Fun Facts
My passion aligns very well with my tutoring specialties. I love English literature. I am a complete bookworm, and my favorites are classics, science fiction, and poetry. I can frequently be found at bookstores and libraries, reading all I can. I am the only child of my two parents, so I have been fortunate enough to travel to many parts of the world, including China, Germany, France, Spain, Egypt,England, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and many more.
About Me
I am a new graduate student at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) pursuing a Master of Arts in English. I graduated from UTSA in Summer 2015 Summa Cum Laude with a 3.91 GPA and a 4.0 GPA in my discipline. I received Presidential status in the National Society for Leadership and Success, was elected secretary for the honor society, Delta Alpha Pi, and I am currently vice-president/president-elect of the same chapter. Ultimately, I plan to be a professor.
Experience
I have tutored my classmates in various subjects since I was in middle school. In college, I mostly tutored them informally. I love helping other students understand the subjects they have difficulty learning. Seeing a student succeed with my help is nothing short of a joy. I am patient with students, and I have been a Sunday School teacher for 3rd grade at Trinity Baptist Church for two years.
Approach
I recognize that everyone learns in different ways, so I work to find out the best way for each student to learn. If one explanation does not click with them, then I try another until we reach mutual understanding. I try to incorporate study skills as well, so each student is prepared for future classes. I have a way of explaining concepts that students often tell me is clarifying and easy to understand without being overly simplistic.
