I live a very healthy lifestyle and love doing anything outdoors. Running, hiking, yoga, the beach and so much more are all passions of mine. About Me
I am very driven and have set high goals for myself, in which I confidently know I will achieve. My goal after college is to pursue a career in Public Relations, which can allow me to start my own PR firm in the future representing companies that I feel passionate about that give back to the community. I also believe my passion for life comes from my love for people. I have been on multiple mission trips throughout my life and I plan to continue on with that into the future, because there is no greater feeling than giving back to those in need.
My dedication to helping others does not stop with mission trips, in fact I have continued with this as a college student as well. Recently I was involved in an after school mentoring program helping middle school girls from lower income families. Through that program I worked with 3 different girls helping them with their homework after school, usually in math, writing and science. These girls were not only excited to receive one-on-one tutoring, but they also valued my opinion and looked up to me. I acted as a mentor for them and encouraged them to do well in school so that they too could attend a college like Loyola Marymount University.
I believe that establishing a connection with the student is key. As a tutor, respect is key, students must know that I respect them in order for them to respect myself. With respect helped build a relationship. It is crucial for the student to look at me not only as a tutor but as a friend and a mentor that wants them to succeed. Along with the friendship forming, it is also important that as a tutor I have a great deal of patience, especially when teaching more complex subjects. A tutor cannot show any signs of frustration because that gives the student reason to be frustrated. Instead I am very good at reading people and when it becomes too much for the student to handle, I suggest taking a few minutes break and try to take their mind off the subject matter completely in order
