Fun Facts
I spend most of my spare time either running or playing basketball. I ran track in high school and played the violin for about ten years. I really love organic chemistry! The subject doesn't require any calculations and is truly like a Lego playground if you get into it (albeit with a lot of rules).
About Me
I am a junior studying biochemistry at New York University. I have spent a lot of time learning about the world through my textbooks and also in research laboratories. I plan on going to medical school, but I might also pursue a PhD as well.
I recently tutored high school kids in introductory and AP chemistry at the Henry Street Settlement. They were great kids who worked hard, but because of scheduling conflicts I wasn't able to continue my time there. I also tutored pre-schoolers as part of the NYU Jumpstart Team. Those kids were tough to handle! However, I learned that visualization of information is a key method of learning.
Because chemistry can be a tough subject to grasp, I try to get my clients to understand the concepts first. I want him/her to "see" chemistry before attempting to solve problems. Many times there are models and graphs that simplify information and offer a plethora of clues. Such visual information go a long way come test taking time.
