Fun Facts
I like Latin dancing, it is a good way to move your body and burn some calories. At the same time, it is a great way to meet new people.
I also love to cook. I prefer cooking Peruvian food for my friends and family. I can go on and on about great Peruvian food.
About Me
I am from Peru and moved to the US in 2004. I finished high school in Pensacola, Fla with highest honors and enrolled in Pensacola State College. There, I was a math and science tutor at different levels of education for many students. After graduating with my AA with high honors, I transferred to Cornell University where I majored in Biological Sciences. I graduated with High Honors in 2012 and now I am a PhD students at NYU School of Medicine. I work in blood development and genetics.
Experience
In Pensacola, I was a tutor with Student Talent Search. I taught different levels of Math and Science to many students. I taught daily for a year. After my 2nd year, I tutored privately to students from middle school to college level. Many of these students became regular students of mine for 2 years since they increased their grades and confidence in these subjects. I still remember the first time one of my regular students were able to understand binomial expansion, which was very rewarding.
Approach
Each student is different, and the reason they may be struggling may also differ. However, I think in many cases, students cannot understand complex problems because they are not taught the simple ways to looking at them. I try to explain the problems and concepts as basic and possible and go from there.
