Fun Facts
You'll learn quickly enough that I am the biggest nerd when it comes to science, especially biology. I absolutely love everything biology related. Ever since I could remember, I've also had this fascination with biology. I am also a HUGE sports fanatic! I love watching and playing soccer, basketball, football, and tennis.
About Me
I will be a senior at the University of Texas - Austin in the fall. I'm currently a cell and molecular biology and psychology double major student at the university. Ever since I was a little kid, I've wanted to become a doctor and I continue to strive to make those aspirations a reality. I've just recently applied to medical schools with the hopes of gaining admission to a medical school for fall 2013 (wish me luck!). I love to help people, which is one of the main reasons I've chosen medicine as my career path. Another reason as to why I've chosen this career path is that I love science, especially biology.
Since August 2009, I've been volunteering at the Child Care Center organized by BAPS. I've been serving as a austin">tutor every Sunday at the center. My responsibilities included austin">tutoring children from elementary school to middle school. I helped the children with anything they needed assistance with. This generally included math and science subjects. I've grown to love the children I work with and I wish to continue this volunteering opportunity for as long as I can.
From my experience in austin">tutoring the kids at the child care center, I've developed methods that work well when teaching children. Generally, my philosophy is to cater to the kids' needs. I've learned that visual aids help kids remember content significantly better. Offering children incentives and motivation also helps to keep their attention. I'm highly adaptable and will do everything I can to help whoever I am helping improve their grades.
