I was fortunate enough to have my boyfriend's grandmother teach me how to crochet and knit two summers ago. I would have never thought back then that I would become such a knitting fanatic. About Me

I currently attend queens-college">Queens College. I am a political science major with an international politics concentration. I am going to be a junior this upcoming fall. I am currently the President of the queens-college">Queens College Model United Nations team and am also a Peer Counselor in the queens-college">Queens College Peer Counseling Program. I have also been on the Dean's List this past year which was very exciting for me since I was a new student last fall! My plans for the future include going to law school in New York City.

During high school I had the opportunity to queens">tutor a few students. Two students who I had tutored for many years were two sisters. I helped them with their school work during elementary school and also taught them Spanish. I had such a great time queens">tutoring these two girls because they were energetic and outgoing students. I learned so much from that experience that I tried to gain more experience teaching and queens">tutoring during college as well. I joined a English as a Second Language Program in St. John's University, as a queens">tutor for adults who were trying to learn English and pass the GED exam. This experience also was fun because I was able to interact with such interesting people who were in very different stages of their life. One particular student was a grandmother whose goal was to attend college in the United States. It was exciting to know that even though these students had a language barrier, they still worked diligently to overcome these obstacles.

I believe that each student has the potential of doing very well in school. When queens">tutoring I try to help the student become organized so that school doesn't have to feel very overwhelming. I have been very fortunate that I have had many great teachers who truly cared and helped me succeed in my school work. As a queens">tutor I try to emulate that passion for teaching and success in order to have students truly grow as great students.
