Fun Facts

I come from an international family and I'm very widely traveled. Since I'm half Indian, I visit New Delhi to see family at least once a year, but I've also been all over Europe and Asia. I love sports, especially baseball, which I played in high school and (briefly) college. I also love writing, and my work was published for the first time in early September!

About Me

I'm a recent graduate of Johns Hopkins University. I made the Dean's List for my last four semesters (would have been five, but I missed it by .01 sophomore year) and graduated with honors and a 3.55 GPA. I'm currently raising funds to pursue a Masters in either History or Political Science.

Experience

While I was in high school, I tutored students in middle school and high school on English and Social Studies. After I graduated college, I volunteered for a yearlong term of service with AmeriCorps, which I spent tutoring underprivileged students in English and Math at Kelly Miller Middle School in Washington, DC. I also assisted in the classroom and even taught several classes by myself (which was both heart-wrenching and awesome).

Approach

I'm a firm believer that any subject can be interesting to any student. As a tutor, I strive to make the subjects I'm teaching relevant to my students by making them invested in the learning process. I'm an adherent of the Socratic Method; instead of simply telling a student "wrong" if they answered a problem incorrectly, I would much rather ask them how they got to that answer. By doing so, I'm able to understand the way in which their minds work, and can cater my lesson plans accordingly.
