Fun Facts
My name is Victor Murillo but I usually go by Vic. I was born and raised in Southern California and I enjoy outdoor sports such as Soccer, running, bike riding, swimming and snorkeling. On my free time I like to go for walks in the park and reading (fiction and non-fiction).
About Me
I attended Ventura Community College and transferred to SFSU in the Fall of 2007. From 2010-2011, I worked for my current principal investigator as his teacher's assistant and research assistant. I was very intrigued by the research and I decided to continue attending SFSU as a graduate student.
I have 4 years of tutoring experience. My most memorable experience was when I worked at Wallenberg High School through a program called Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP). Here, I tutored many students in Chemistry and Biology. I really enjoyed it because I saw how much of an impact I had on my community and how important I was in helping students accomplish their academic goals.
The approach I have used in the past is "see one, do one, teach one". This method has worked for my students and I and I feel it is the most effective because students will gain enough confidence to work the problems on their own.
