Fun Facts
I am young but I have 2 step kids (5th and 7th grade). We all love to work together on our schoolwork. We also have a young puppy and a cat here at home. Busy house.
My favorite thing besides academia and psychology is comedy. I love to watch it at home and go see it live as much as I can. I'm also studying the history of American comedy in my free time :)
About Me
I am a published researcher with a focus on psychology. I have a master's in research, with a focus on statistics and psychological measurement. I taught college for a couple years and absolutely loved it. I am studying at UT right now for a career transition and would love to help your kids find passion in learning, as well.
Experience
I have tutored since high school at various levels. Apart from teaching a course in college, I also provided help outside of class. In my personal life, I tutor my stepkids pretty much every school day. I know learning can be stressful but it's my passion to help students find joy and pride in it.
Approach
Something I repeat to my kids and that was taught to me in higher ed - mistakes are OKAY! Learning comes quickly when we make a mistake and then examine why it was not correct. Kids (and adults) feel a lot of pressure to understand right away and get it right every time - but that's not the true journey to learning.

MastersPsychology Tutoring
My major is psychology, and will be graduating in December with my BA. I consistently receive among the highest exam scores in my classes, have completed an experimental proposal, and have had 2 internships with the department of psychiatry in the UTHSC. I will be pursuing my PhD upon completion of my bachelors in December.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
Within psychology, my passion is cognitive psychology. Cognition concerns itself with mental processes such as memory, thought, and learning. I have studied how to read most effectively and am passionate about sharing the strategies.
Study Skills Tutoring
Within Psychology, I am most interested in cognitive psychology, which concerns itself with effective learning. I completed an experimental proposal on a subject of efficient studying, and hope to be able to share what I've learned through reading and through my own experience in school.
Homework Coach Tutoring
In psychology, motivation and self efficacy are recognized as huge factors for success. I'd work to increase both internal or intrinsic motivation while hopefully increasing the students feeling of self efficacy.
Pre Algebra Tutoring
Algebra is a strong suit of mine. I took pre algebra, algebra, algebra II, and college algebra. I also completed the CLEP exam for college credit. I believe I'd be able to make it less intimidating.
Spanish I Tutoring
Completed Spanish 1-3 in high school and have been learning since I was a kid. Not fluent but proficient in the lower levels of Spanish.
Writing Tutoring
More than content, I believe structure makes for an effective paper. Structure is my strong suit and I have many strategies to share to assist with making difficult writing easier.
Algebra Tutoring
I was always strong in Algebra. Took extra for fun in high school and took the CLEP exam in college for credit.
Elementary Math Tutoring
Math can be difficult for many students but I believe if it's presented correctly, anyone can get it. Math was always my best subject in school, though I don't study it much in college.
Science Tutoring
Science is my passion, so I want nothing more than to help other students light up about it also.
Spanish Tutoring
I have taken 3 complete years of Spanish and have grown up learning it. I am not fluent but am proficient in the lower levels of Spanish.
Microsoft PowerPoint Tutoring
In studying psychology, I am required to create many presentations. I have been using Microsoft office for 10+ years and feel confident about it. Attention to detail and to characteristics of the audience are important when presenting.
Microsoft Word Tutoring
I have been working with Microsoft office for 10+ years. I currently produce many papers for my classes and feel very confident with different formatting, etc.
