About Me

I was born in Malaysia, but my family moved to California when I was young. I now live in Atlanta for school, while my family still lives in San Diego. I am an English/Journalism major at Emory University. I hope to go into broadcast or print Journalism after I graduate in 2014.

I worked with elementary school students in California through a program called Study Buddies. Once a week after school, atlanta">tutors would meet with the students and help them with homework and test preparation. I also tutored other elementary students independently and helped them with test preparation in subjects such as history and English. The program also allowed us to bond with the students by going outside and playing games with them to help them relax.

I believe that atlanta">tutors and students should share more than just a teacher-student bond. The best way to atlanta">tutor someone is to get to know them so I can learn the best way to help them. I also believe that practice is the key to becoming successful. By first demonstrating a problem, the student can see how to solve it. Giving them more problems to solve will help them fully grasp a concept and be able to do it on their own.
