Fun Facts

One of my favorite things to do is going camping. I really enjoy traveling, as well. I love going on to a different city, where I've never been before, and soaking in the culture. Whenever I am fortunate enough to travel, I like to spend my time doing things that locals do, rather than going to tourists' attractions.

About Me

I am a recent graduate of San Jose State University with a BA in Sociology. I minored in Women's Studies. I made the Dean's List in 2011 and 2012. I am planning on going to grad school for Speech Pathology.

In the past, I worked as a mentor and tutor for AmeriCorps, tutoring students in low-income communities around San Jose. I tutored 1st-4th graders in the after-school program at Rocketship Si Se Puede in reading-comprehension/california/san-jose">reading comprehension. I was also part of a team of 9 AmeriCorps members to create lesson plans and facilitate a summer literacy program at 3rd Street Community Center in downtown San Jose.

I believe that learning should be fun. When I tutor, I try to incorporate games and activities that will aid in getting the point across while making it fun. In my experience working with elementary school students, this method has had positive outcome in getting students excited to learn.
